This is an H/O Cook Children's camp held each year for one week at Camp John Marc in Meridian, TX. One hundred twenty patients and their siblings, age 6-18, attend the week long camp. Twenty to thirty preschoolers, age 4 and 5, attend the one day camp that has been funded and staffed by Circle of Friends for 31 years, beginning with the first one in 1983 held at Camp Carter. All patients have been clearded by the hospital to attend camp.
Pre-schoolers arrive by bus at 10 AM and leave camp at 3 PM. Events include crafts and outside games, lunch, fishing, swimming, nature, and music. Each camper is assigned a Circle of Friends (COF) Volunteer that will help them go through each activity. Scrapbooks are made for each camper along with a video of their day at camp.
This year the theme was "Party in the USA". Click the large image below to view the slideshow of this year's camp.
